About Atlas Médico
Atlas Médico is a free reference atlas of diseases, organs, drugs, surgical procedures and psychological therapies, built from open medical ontologies. It is a reference work, not medical advice: it cannot diagnose, treat, or replace a qualified clinician.
How it is sourced
Every publishable statement traces to a row in the site's own
Sources table, and a page renders a definition only when
that row is present. Every definition and relationship carries the
open ontology it came from; anything we cannot source, we do not
publish. A name that could not be matched exactly against an
ontology — or matched only a near-synonym — is shown with no
definition at all, rather than a guessed one.

Cross-reference codes are identifiers, not content
Some cross-references shown on entity pages point at code systems whose own content is not redistributed here: SNOMED CT, MeSH, ICD-10, ICD-9-CM, ATC, UMLS and UNII. Atlas Médico stores the identifier so a reader can look the concept up at its own authority — SNOMED CT requires its own licence to redistribute, and several of the others carry terms that do not permit it either. No text, classification or hierarchy from those systems is reproduced, and none of them is the source of any claim on this site.
