Definition

Psychotherapy designed to promote well-being and manage distress in people who have been diagnosed with advanced-stage or incurable cancer. Participants engage in one-on-one sessions with a therapist to promote symptom management and communication with health care providers, changes in self and relations with others, spiritual well-being and the sense of meaning and purpose, and mortality and future-oriented concerns.
